D&W is a 20 year old company that specializes in clutch
remanufacturing, and brake shoe relining for the trucking
industry. Our comprehensive business philosophy is based
on the premise that a high quality product offered at a
competitive price, supported by excellent delivery service
and technical support, is what a preferred supplier should
offer. This is what D&W offers!
Our clutch product line includes remanufactured and new
Spicer-type clutches, medium-duty clutches, and original
light-duty clutch kits (SURE SHIFT). We remanufacture units
using genuine OEM specifications and our components are
supplied by OE approved suppliers. All intermediate plates
are new! All medium and light-duty clutch discs are new,
and we give our customers the choice of new or remanufactured
discs for all heavy-duty applications. We stock many foreign
clutches, and we offer R&R services for all non-stocking
items in a 24-48 hour window. Automotive clutches, flywheels,
master and slave cylinders, and clutch forks are obtainable
through our suppliers. D&W also stocks both heavy-duty
flywheels and dual-mass flywheels for Ford and GM lighter
trucks. Our heavy-duty flywheels fit Caterpillar, Cummins,
Detroit, Navistar, and Mack engines. Delivery is made within
five working days of receipt of an order provided it meets
the $1500, freight prepaid requirement; tag along deliveries
require a $500 minimum. All cores are generally credited
within 48 hours of their receipt in our facility. Our 1
year or 100,000 mile warranty matches Eaton's current warranty.
Failure to machine flywheel will negate warranty. We also
offer 75 years of clutch remanufacturing experience for
technical support and troubleshooting.
Dana Spicer has selected D&W as its Northeast regional
reline center for heavy-duty brake shoes. We are also an
Abex approved reline center. Carlisle and Brake Pro friction
are our most expansive lines. All shoe cores are stretch
gauged and bulk quantity shoes are riveted with stroke and
pressure measured, hydraulic, computerized riveting machines.
Our brake shop also performs R&R services for riveted
brake bands up to 6" wide using molded or woven non-asbestos
lining. We can also help customers with bonded bands and
small shoes requiring special friction materials.
D&W Rebuilders, Inc. was founded in 1980, by a Baltimore
based truck parts house due to frustration with clutch warranties
from multiple rebuilding facilities. The owners of the parts
house decided to remanufacture clutches with quality as
its primary focus and thereby eliminate warranties. D&W's
remanufacturing procedures were implemented by a man with
over 25 years experience in the clutch rebuilding industry
and certified by Dana Spicer technicians (now owned by Eaton
Corp.). We use only components manufactured by ISO 9000
and QS 9000 manufacturers who supply companies such as Rockwell
and Eaton. D&W purchases most of their components from
the same suppliers as Eaton Corp. Due to our attention to
details, and because we follow all OE manufacturers' specifications
to the letter, we feel that we offer the finest remanfactured
clutch in the U.S. We have achieved a true warranty rate
of approximately one fifth of one percent or about 1 out
of every 500 units.
The standard procedures followed at D&W for remanufacturing
an Eaton cast iron angle spring clutch involves several
stages and inspections. A core received at our facility
is disassembled completely and the components may be washed,
baked, shot blasted, wear points inspected with micrometers,
welded, and milled back to original specifications. Assembly
consists of approximately 50% new internal components, EPII
Lithoplex high temperature grease, new pressure and retractor
springs, new press-fit coaxial chrome-vanadium disc springs,
and new center plates. All matched units have clutch assemblies
adjusted on a simulated flywheel with the discs and center
plate that are in the box. Incorrect center plate or disc
thickness (due to machining used plates), warped or bent
discs, and therefore improper clutch adjustment are frequent
problems for mass production clutch rebuilders who adjust
clutch assemblies to "dummy" discs. Due to our
use of new center plates, inspections, and true matched
unit adjusting procedures, we virtually eliminate these
occurrences.
